I know it has been a while since I have posted. Moving, school and getting married are time suckers!
I present to you “Mod About You”! It is Simplicity 1609. It is a “Jiffy Dress”. The main dress consists of two pieces that you have to cut. Seems simple enough right? Actually, it was! The darting seemed strange initially, but, despite my hard to fit figure, it worked out great!
The two main pieces made for quick work. I think it took me about 3 hours from cut to finish! I used a navy stretch cotton sateen from Joann for the dress and a Mod-like, kinda Ikat? that were both from Joann.

I ABSOLUTELY love the scalloped collar on the dress. This was my first time sewing a collar, and I think I didn’t do too bad. I added a dart at the back to account for my narrow back. It was hidden under the collar, and it didn’t affect how the collar laid.

I have this HORRIBLE planning when it comes to making clothes. I always wait until the last minute to make something, and I never have enough time to make sure I have the correct notions. I moved the zipper to the side because I only had a neon yellow zipper -_-. In all the pictures I took, I was sure to hid it… Anyway, the dress is so fun to wear. I just need to make an adjustment to get the waist to fit better and I will be making this a lot.
It is such an easy dress to style and it is perfect for winter and summer. A long sleeve tee underneath turns it into a cute jumper and a light cardigan over it will make a cute spring look.
