Misszurib, where have you been?

We missed YOU!

It seems as if I’ve been MIA for quite some time?  Truth is, I was just taking a “Christmas Break”… It turned into a let’s-make-everyone-a-present-and-not-take-good-pictures-and-make-a-bunch-of-undocumented-clothes break. 🙂 Now, I wish I could go back in time and fix that, but I can say that I will try to do better. MAYBE?

I made my sister, nephews, dad AND great Aunt Christmas presents this year!! A bit ambitious…
I was only able to get pictures of my youngest nephew, dad and great aunt’s presents. He got Simplicity 1677. I made the adults Simplicity 1504. Dad got the shirt and pants and Aunt got the dress.

Yes, it is taped to the fridge!

I will be graduating in May – YAY – and that means I have a lot of work to do.  I am still fervently sewing.  I have made so many things, but I can’t find good pictures of them.

So where do we begin?

Let’s start with New Look 6194!
I did a mash-up of view B&C.  I loved the collar, but I wanted the cuffs! I want it all!!!! She is sewn in a navy stretch cotton sateen from Joann and is lined with a printed poly from their simply silky collection.

All done View B/C

If you want to see the insides, say PLEASE!

I didn’t hear that.  But, I took the pictures of the insides before I put the sleeves on because I was just so excited! This is my second jacket – the first being one of the first things I sewed after getting back on the machine after years of not sewing.  It was a part of a clown costume for Halloween.  I HAD NO CLUE WHAT I GOT MYSELF INTO.  It was ambitious then, and I think I did a fairly good job on this jacket.  I really wanted to show off the lining material, so I did the under collar in it!

Popped collars?!

I also made view D.  I love that skirt.  She was quick and has a back vent so walking is a breeze.  I’m looking for a great go-to skirt and this and New Look 6003 are some tough competitors!

Total look, without the sleeves of course

When I get around to it, I’ll post a pic of me wearing it, until then… Let’s talk about New Look 6003. 🙂

Now, I will say, I made a good faith attempt to get good pictures in this skirt, but as my life would have it, that was a moot point!  My favorite part of the skirt was the deliciously crimson lining. (Roll Tide!)  I also love the peplum.  I’m more of a classic-modern girl, so I take trends, but very lightly and sparingly.  I might need to reconsider the peplum train. I’m in love!
I used houndstooth suiting from Joann that has been in my stash for ages.  I was very skeptical about this skirt, so I didn’t want to buy anything new.  Let’s just take a moment to appreciate the houndstooth (RTR)… LOL Sorry if you hate Bama – or have no clue what I’m talking about… Anyway, here she is!

Drum roll please for the lining?!

BAM(A)! I’ll bet you weren’t expecting that!
Thank you so much for reading!  I promise I wont be on a half-year hiatus again. Maybe… IDK. Lol, the good news is, I have decided that I’m not going to buy anything else, if I can help it/make it. So there will be much more sewing!
Sewing has become calming and very, VERY rewarding.  I get exactly what I want, and it fits just right.
Phew, long post! I’ll see you later!
P.S. Right now, I am working on knitting my husband a tie.  Next time I post, I should have an update on it!  Here’s a picture of my broken DPNs for now 😦 Yes, long story, but I broke two of them.
Detail! It is skinny approx 2in wide
