Sewing for Babies

Hi there!

So much time has passed since I last posted.  I got the much needed opportunity to spend time with my nephews for an entire month!  I did not waste any sewing time though!

I made a blanket for my cousin’s newborn who came just hours after her baby shower!
The materials came pre-cut from a kit.  I added my own cotton batting and grey satin material as the binding.  It was my first quilt and I want to make many, many more!

Crazy textures!

The kit came with all of the necessary materials, except batting.  I choose to bind with the satin because I wanted a cleaner look.  It came beautifully packaged and was a great way to try different minky materials without wasting materials or having to make more than you wanted.

Freshly Pieced

I also made her a onesie (body suit).  Simplicity 2459 is a rather interesting looking pattern at first glance.  VERY FRILLY dress with a cute little jumper for a boy.  I was only interested in the onesie.  I LOVE the collar and in the right material, this pattern is amazing!

I used a leopard print knit from my stash.  I intend to make many more, as its easy to use up leftover materials from making my new obsession… Something I will talk about later, after I get better pictures. My cousin loves both and it felt good to sew for another person, maybe I’ll do more..
